Hi Everyone,
This is my first post ever on my new blog page. Please bear with me, as I am not as computer literate as many of my younger triathlete friends.
This has been a good week. Last Sunday (6/22) I did my first race of the year. A half iron distance tri in Sherwood, WI--High Cliff Triathlon. It was a good day, I won my age group, and while I didn't have my best time for that distance, I felt great when the race was over. No hydration/nutrition problems. It did help that it was a cool day, and the run was mostly shaded.
Ironman Louisville (8/31) will be my first ever ironman distance race. I've completed 54 triathlons, dating back to 1987. I stopped for about 8 years when I had both of my kids. There have been physical challenges since then (more on that later) but I'm really excited about this race.
Today was a long ride (80 miles/very wind) with Snoop Dog, Moose and two other friends. It was great going on a new route with some good, fun riders! Thanks, guys!
This week's training was bike intensive, light swim and run sessions. My week totals are as follows:
Total training time: 23:22:57 hours
Total calories burned: 10,022
Swim: 6X for 8,800 meters
Run: 2x for 9 miles
Bike: 5x for 220 miles
Next week is a recovery week--this is the hardest part of my training. I'm not good at resting, but since my toughest week are coming up, I'm going to do my best to stick with the program.
Hope everyone had a great weekend!
