Overtrained?

Overtrain/Overtraining/Overtrained--Could be the story of my week.

I read a great article in the latest Triathlete magazine. "Beat the late-season blues" by Mark Allen. I believe it was put in my lap providentially.

After a great run yesterday, I went to bed tired, woke up tired, and am still tired. My legs are tired, my feet are tired, my hamstrings are tired. Uh, I guess I'm just a little tired.

This is supposed to be a tough week, but I decided to shorten it because I'm "racing" Saturday and Sunday. After reading the above-mentioned article, I'm actually going to "cut back". I plan to take Friday off and get a massage. Ha! All the other training advice I follow seems to work, so I'm thinking the "rest and recovery" thing should work also. I'll let you know.

Did a quick, easy 16 mile spin on the bike. A steady 2500 meter swim, and a ton of the "carpooling the kids all over the place" today. (I actually needed to be two places at one time.)

I'm going to bed early tonight, honest! My plan is to ride 2 hours, and run 1 hour tomorrow. The weather may be iffy. It it's raining, I may skip the ride (horrors!) and run inside on the treadmill. I've been doing a lot of hill running, and I think my body is objecting just a little bit.

Hope you all had a great "back to work/the real world after a holiday weekend" Monday.

Until next time--God bless.

Sent here by Waddler. :)

I mostly a runner, but I'm currently nursing an injury that required surgery. Once I get the OK, I'll be looking into doing a tri.

Good luck with your training.

Sent by Waddler as well. Sounds like you need some rest! I hope the race is a blast! I'm very new to the sport. Well, to fitness in general, but I've fallen in love with triathlons. Great fun!

I'm going through the same thing you are and I'm only training for a half! And my kids are all grown up so I don't have that to deal with any more either. I'll be following your training to see how you do. I have many friends doing IMKY.
(also sent here by Waddler--us "older" ladies have to stick together!)

Love the new look! You know what to do with your training -- just listen to your body and you can't go wrong!

Your Peanut is adorable, too! :)
